Here & There....

I seem to be having a hard time getting a post together the past few weeks...

There dont seem to be enough hours in the day anymore...

Or...

I am just getting old!!

Anyway...here is a quick catch up on the last week...

Spent the evening poolside on Thursday, with our friends Devon and Mark, who moved across the country to British Columbia last fall...

Unfortunately the clouds rolled in...what else is new...and we ate dinner inside..

It was lovely seeing them again...

Devon brought me a lovely Rose coloured Kalanchoe, which I have taken to the cottage for the Summer...

Thanks Devon!!

Here it is...ain't she a beauty?? ♥️

Will have to see how long I can keep her going...

I usually have pretty good luck with this plant...

Here is what Friday afternoon and evening looked like at the cottage...

This is one of our neighbours to the West...

We were in the middle of some chores, when the skies blackened...the wind was very gusty...and the rain very heavy...

The power was out for 2 hours!!

Needless to say, we spent the day inside...

But...we were kinda tired from the night before anyway! hahaha!

Saturday proved to be an absolutely gorgeous day...

We got lots of outdoor work done...

All my baskets are planted...

And doing very well indeed..

These Begonias are so beautiful...love them!!

Here is the Kalanchoe that Devon gave me...

Brought her inside before I left!!

Early evenings are fabulous at the cottage , when it is sunny...

This is the view from the kitchen...

I had a hole cut in the wall, and a window installed, shortly after we bought 18 years ago...

One of the best decisions I ever made!

Boyfriend bringing the cushions in, while I get dinner on the go!!

Just enough time, to grab a bit more "sun" time!!

Before we head in...to eat dinner on the sunporch...my favorite place..♥️

Sunday was another rain event day...and very humid...

We had planned to stay over again...but not in the rain!!

Rained most of the drive home...

Have Miss V today...her and I went to the grocery store...

Picked up some nice Cod...which, of course...is soaking in a buttermilk bath!!

She is still napping...so thought I better get a post done...or you will all think I have shrivelled up!!

Still taking lots of pics...and cooking...perhaps some jam later in the week...

I do freezer jam...much easier...and really, just as tasty!!

Hope you are all having a great day...

Raining or sunny??

Humid or cool??

Seems like the whole worlds weather has gone kooky...

Enjoy your new week...anything on your agenda???

                               Cheers!  :o)

  1. After a dull and grey weekend - and none too warm - it has been lovely here today, hubby is now sitting outside for an after dinner sit and I am just going to join him! I wish that it would be nice all the time in the summer. Shame about your rain at the cottage, that isn't fair. It should always be nice when you are there!! Beautiful kalanchoe from Devon. Mine are outside sunning themselves now! I thought of you when I put them out and think of you when I see them! Hope you have a good week. xx

  4. Whew! I feel like we just had a full afternoon of chatting. You covered a lot here, Linda. Your photos are gorgeous. What is the plant called that is posted under the one Devon gave you with the red blooms? I have one and don't even know what it is. Your pool is gorgeous. I'd be sitting by it, too all evening. I'm going to do the same thing Betsy did, name my plants with wood sticks. She wants to be like you... me, too. :) Everything is blooming here, even my violets in the house. :)) Dinner sounds wonderful. Enjoy, Deb

  7. It wasn't a bad day, warm and humid this afternoon, but quite nice now. Time just goes by way to fast when you are having fun. Rain overnight and tomorrow morning. Figured it would rain tomorrow as we usually get groceries on Tuesdays and lately they have been wet days. I see I have some pea pods on the first row of peas I planted and we've been having radishes from the garden, sweet little French breakfast ones. Very tasty

    1. Not bad here either....got out for a walk with Miss V....and a walk after dinner....
      Perhaps some gardening tomorrow!
      Love radishes!

  8. I hear ya Linda. I find the days pass by way way too quickly. We have been on the wet side here in the Ottawa area and a few tornado watches..... My gardens don't look too awful. Of course the hostas are exploding. We have been spending a lot of time with our Miss D.... as we are heading to Alberta to have a visit with our other 2 G kiddos who turn 4 this year. Your cottage life is very inspiring. Thanks for posting...:-)

  13. I so enjoy reading about your days, Linda. You have a way of making the most simple of routines seem so lovely. Your meals and gardening and rushing out if the rains. Anyway---I spotted your boyfriend out doing the cushions right away---great silhouette! All your meals--delish and seeing your man again, with your empty spot for sure with the cool beers waiting, oh my, I miss the lake!

Yes---everything is wonky---here in the states...rain everywhere in the Midwest here by me, terrible storms in the south with flooding, droughts along the West coast. This afternoon and evening we had tornado warnings, heavy rains and flooding in our area. It's very odd to have this sort of weather so close to downtown...not sure why. Abby called me, stuck in traffic and high water, no one moving and in a not so great neighborhood. I never felt so helpless. She was going to come here and then figured her best route was to turn north back toward her apartment/house. Two hours later she arrived and in tears. I'm frightful of storms as I grew up on the Illinois prairies and I'm ashamed that I passed that fear on to my children. Well, better to be cautious. Poor girl. I wish she had come here for comfort and a good meal.

Love to you and keep sending out those pretty garden and cottage pics! :)

  14. Always fun to catch up with you here and no need to feel guilty that you've been busy. Just back and forth to your wonderful cottage takes lots of prep time and energy! The rain has been great for the gardens, our evening primrose has exploded. The SC ladies mentioned that it was fun to see Devon last Thursday, so sorry that I didn't get to see her. Enjoyed all your lovely photos, have a good week. :)

  17. I don't own a kalanchoe, but now I really think I should! The rose coloured flowers are really pretty. I like your green garden chairs - we greatly admired this style of chair when we were in Canada, and loved that they come in such a festive range of colours. Hope they turn up here some time :) Bad luck with the rain, but the cottage looks so cosy and homely, it must still be fun being there. The picture window you created is brilliant, looking right out to the lake. The cod sounds good! Cheers P.

  19. Hi Linda, I love all your beautiful blooms at both places. You've certainly had some wet weather there lately. Will that be your summer forecast? I hope not. We actually had 4 straight day of sun here until today so I guess we needed the rain. I see the weeds are really popping up in the vegetable garden though. Have a great day!

Cold here today. I'm in my winter jams, as I type this.
