When grocery shopping on Friday...at my favorite place...Michaelangelo's Marketplace...I spied these cute little pears....
They are very tiny....about the size of a large fig...
They are called "Ercolini Pear"...
Haven't tasted them yet...but could they be any cuter??
Had bought them for company on Saturday night...but unfortunately I woke up Saturday morning, and wasn't feeling up to par, so I had to cancel...which really takes a lot for me, as I LOVE having company over for the evening and dinner...
I will try them, and let you know the outcome. Hopefully they will taste as good as they look....Not just another pretty face!!!!
The next cute thing I saw was this hot pink Primula...I had gone to the Greenhouse to get flowers for my dinner party.
So cute....and OHHHHH so fragrant....if these last long enough, they can go into the garden....
Of course I had to have some tulips.....
Also for the garden...it is like getting 2 for 1....enjoy them in the house...and then enjoy them next Spring in the garden.....So smart.....
These last 2 pictures are for my christmas cacti buddies...these 2 plants already bloomed last Fall for me....now it seems they want to put on another show...
the picture to the right, shows the new leaves where I had pinched them back...don't really know the secret to this....just lucky I guess, but MINE do get an awful lot of sun....perhaps that is the key...
To end this post....I want to say....that we have WATER at the cottage....YEAH!!!!!.... we went out yesterday afternoon, and while I raked, my sweet husband got the water going....you have no idea (or maybe you do) what it means to have the water on again...so liberating....Summer can't be far behind...
Have a great day....:o)
Those are adorable pears, so little and perfectly coloured! Wonder what they taste like?
ReplyDeleteYou are making me crazy with your christmast cactus pictures! Mine just has one new little shoot but it looks robust. Here's hoping for some lovely blooms in a year or so!
Had one this afternoon...
ReplyDeleteDELICIOUS!!
Very sweet and juicy...
not as mealy as regular pears..
Okay, regarding those cacti. Today, I had to wait for the furnace guy and I decided that I would do as you said and take them out of the original pot and re-pot using potting soil. I gave them a shot of fertilizer too. I have also moved them to a west facing window and have everything crossed. I think I see a little bud on one of them...waiting. For me this will likely take until next Christmas. Think I'll go get pears :)
ReplyDeleteyou should do that...
ReplyDeletethey are deeelish!!
I think I need to repot my precious baby cactus. And fertilize! And move to sunnier spot! That should do it!
ReplyDeleteI am off to eat a pear..lol!
