Latest At The Lake.....

This was the Lake on Thursday...

We went out to check on the finished sunporch...

Everything is back in order...

And...

All new!!!

Now...

When I say "all new"...I mean the ceiling joists...

FLoor joists....

And all new wood around where the shutters and screens go....

It was not a "pretty job"...

But....

It was a totally necessary job...

If we hadn't gottena ll this done...

We woudl probably fall thru the porch!!!

Or...

Even worse...

The bedroom above the porch...

May have been "ON" the porch!!!

Soooooooooooo...

It was a very important structural reno....

I will make it "pretty" again...

The very first chance I get...

The lake had its first ice of the year...

Actually....of the whole winter 2012-2013...

No snow on the lawn....it was so sunny....we could ahve sat out in a chair!!!

And......as it was a North wind....not too cold on the Lake side...

Even though it was -10c....it didn't feel that cold...wiht th warm sun...:o)

 Our neighbour Gus was out...

They are renting a cabin nearby for the coldest months...

He helped Dustin move a lot of the scrap wood to the beach...

My boyfriend told him to go ahead and have a bonfire, if he wanted to...

If the lake gets rough...all the wood will be gone!!!

As you can see...

There is only snow and ice..

Right at the beach...

This will probably be gone...

When the temps go up...

Next week...

So....

Here is the sunporch...

New floors...

New support beams and all new joists...

Winter shutters back up...

Ready to be beautified...by me...this Spring...

So....

That was our trip to the lake...

Had a nice snowfall yesterday....and overnight...

Hope you are all having a great day so far...

           On the menu tonight...

My Daughter and son-in-law brought homemade spaghetti sauce...

I am supplying the bread and a salad..

            And the wine...of course!!

Vivian and her Mom will be joining us as well...

                 Cheers!   :o)

  3. Bet the yard is covered in snow now! Imagine the pictures you could take now with all the snow we had. Of course, doesn't mean the cottage got any, but it probably did.
The porch will look amazing in the summer and knowing it is strong and safe will just make it that much better, sitting there having a lovely late meal watching the sun go down.....aaaaahhh, summer....sigh

  5. I can't believe you don't have snow there. Amazing. Love the shots of the ice along the shoreline. Glad your porch is all fixed up for many more seasons.

  7. Ack. The hardest part of a reno is how ugly it looks. Sometimes I clean up just because it looks so terrible. When we did a renovation in our basement I thought I was going to go mad. So dirty and so gross.

  8. I'm sure you are pleased the sunporch is all finished. I'm sure those wheels in your mind are going round and round with how to decorate.
I see a shiny shell on the beach and lots of nice flat stones that could be made into things.
Colorado low storm system heading our way for Monday.
Today is nice and sunny ... so far.
