Front to Back Garden Tour....

Starting in the front garden...a few Ferns have come up...
My front garden faces East, so does not get a lot of sunshine...
Only 'til about mid-day...
It is a wonder anything grows at all...
the Solomon Seal are tall and plentiful...
These are the true genus, and are truly spectacular when in bloom...

My front door Easter planter is still in full swing...
The cooler temps have kept the tulips and daffodils from blooming too quickly...
Will soon be time to transplant into the garden for next year...

Climbing Hydrangea is gorgeous...
Perhaps a few blooms this year...
Going into its 4th year...no blooms as yet...
Below that...
My Muscari is not open as yet...but hopeful!

Now...to the backyard....much more going on out back here...
These Jolly-jump-ups are so cute...kinda spotted almost...
Purple and white...next to Jenny...creepin' along!

My few trilliums took a beating in the last rainfall...
Looking a wee bit dirty...
But...
Still gorgeous!

The Bamboo is coming out like gangbusters...
Will probably dig up a few, where not wanted...
They can become quite invasive...
But...
Given the right spot...
They are perfect!

Right below is the Rose Campion...
A beautiful flowering plant, with luscious velvety silver leaves...
I really like this plant ♥️

Lungwort with pink and blue flowers...
So shortlived...
But...
SO pretty and delicate...

More of my favorite wee jolly-jump-ups...
And..so fragrant!

Three Peony bushes up...
This one complete with ants!
I have a White...Deep Pink and a Pale Pink...
All from my Mom's garden...
I think if I ever move...
They will have to come with me...or...move to my daughter's garden ♥️

Another of my amazing Kalanchoes...
This one from Thanksgiving...flowering again...
Now she is outside...where she will flourish...
Will chronicle her over the summer months...

Hope you are all having a great day...
Pouring rain here...could be worse...
Tornadoes near where Betsy lives...she is AOK!!!
Lots of flooding everywhere...
Hope it lets up for our long weekend...
Lots to do at the cottage...

                                         ~~~~~~~~~~~
We have Miss V for dinner and a sleepover!!!
We have coloured, counted, played music, danced, read, clapped...
Pretended to sleep and snore....played farmer in the dell...
                                  Me Tired!!!!   and grampa too!!!
On the menu tonight....
        Buttermilk soaked and rolled in delicate panko crumbs...
               Boneless chicken  breasts....
                Roasted to a crispy crunchy deliciousness...
                   Roasted crispy taters...
                     Fresh brocolli and fresh yellow beans...
  Hope Miss V likes it!!
       She already had a big piece of the...
          banana/blackberry/strawberry spice cake ♥️♥️
A nice bath...a bit of bubble guppies and off to bed...fingers crossed!!!!
Enjoy the rest of your day....
                      Cheers!  :o)
  3. Bamboo can be difficult when it gets invasive, I do love it though. But not as much as trilliums..
  4. You have been waiting four years for the hydrangea to bloom and still don't know whether this year it will? O men, and I have planted three shrubs and there will be no flowers for the next few years:((( oh, I am sad... Lovely photos though:)
  7. What a great variety of plants you have and I envy all you keen gardeners - you always know the names of the plants and a gardening lady frend I know can roll of all the Latin names and she didn't even learn Latin at school. . . . . . . and all I call remember of Latin is "Amo, amo Amas!" LOL
    Your menu looks delicious!! I've just had baked beans on toast! Do you feel sorry for me? ROFL
  9. Wow Linda, you have such an array of flowers on your property. I love the jolly jump-ups too and peonies always remind me of my grandmothers' garden. We had some rain but mostly sun today and it is hot. Not sure what the weekend will bring. Hope you start to see some sun. I spoke to my sister-in-law who lives close to Kitchener and she says they, too, have seen nothing but rain for days. Have a great evening Linda. Deb
    1. Do you have peonies?
      I would love to give you a clump of jolly jump ups...if only you lived closer....
      Kitchener is only about 45 minutes from me...let me know if you visit!
  10. I can never remember the old fashioned names for flowers, I know we call Johnny Jump Ups something else. Everything looks beautiful, Linda. What a treat to see things pop out of the ground and bloom! And the rain! It's been pouring since Tuesday. It took the unseasonable heat with it and now I'm bringing hanging plants in every night.
    Sounds like you had a wonderful day with your charming girl! Such a treat for all of you! Dinner sounded lovely! I have to try soaking the chicken in buttermilk and doing the panko crumbs.
    Have a great evening! :)
    XO,
    Jane
  14. My trilliums, which seem to have smaller blooms this year, look like yours ... all much speckled. This is my favourite time in the garden ... all the blooms emerging, all the pretty patterns on the hosta emerging, nothing floppy or droopy or needing deadheading. Enjoy the weekend at the cottage.
