Very acrobatic indeed . . . what variety of bird is that, Linda, and the onlooker looks pretty smart as well. Let's see is it a Jay? . . . :)
Glad cottage was nice for you/ I am having Peter, yet again tomorrow because his Nanna is still unwell. Help!! coming over for a short holiday to make sure he is a good boy . . . haha
Hi Eddie... Yellow Finch and Purple Finch....Jays are very big blue birds! hahaha! These guys are tiny! You are getting a real work out with young Peter...you will be fine...I will have Miss V by myself on Wednesday...
Nice finches . . . do they interbreed I wonder? If I have Peter on Wednesday as well I shall take him to The Rectory with S and me . . . he will love that. Let's hope it is warm and fine . . . Nice that you are having Miss V . . . :)
I miss my finch feeder..:( Our 200 yr old tree had to come down..it was close to the house..and unwell..I had my feeder there and they brought me joy..they are the cutest little birds.
That is quite the acrobatic goldfinch, Linda. I love the bright yellow on the males. It has turned cloudy here - first time in almost 3 weeks! and we will hopefully get some showers later today. The weekend was sunny and warmish (I found the wind chilly). Have a great week. I hope you get some sunny days. xx Pam
We have had more dull than sun the last few weeks...another dull wet one today! Yes...the wind can always make it feel chilly...I agree Pam... enjoy your week!!
I have no idea Kris, as the weather is not co-operating!! I was going to take a drive to the cottage...not so sure about that anymore! Think I will clean out my drawers! Fun,eh??
beautiful! except what a frustrating bird feeder. they can see it. but the little tiny slit is so narrow they have to have the patience and ability to place the silly seed just right to get it outta there! nope. LOL! well. my apologies. i must have just been feeling grumpy! i just read all the other comments and it's apparently a finch feeder and quite usual. so i guess finches are up to the challenge and the seeds are tiny enough! how clever! grump over!!! :) XOXO♥
Hahaha! You need to read the comments Tammy♥️ They are very patient eaters....stay for a while...but,they fly away if you go near them.....very sweet birds!
Love yellow goldfinches, so pretty. I helped place a bird feeder when just visiting my son and family in their summer house on Long Island. Not that I'm an expert, but they had hung it very low on a fence, difficult for birds to land and eat. So, a tall tree branch was the solution! Hope it works! Have a good week and don't clean out too many drawers! :)
Very good Hester! I am certain the girls will love it, and see lots of birds... How lucky to have a summer house....you can visit when the weather is hot!
Oh Wow, what a gorgeous little yellow bird - one I have never seen. He looks funny and energetic too. My boyfriend goes away on business now and then - that is when I clean out cupboards and get rid of stuff (and he doesn't see it, he he). Enjoy your week Linda.
I love goldfinches...one of my favorites! Yours has his summer feathers already! I haven't seen one yet! The sure are fun to watch when they hang upside down!
I could even hear the long drum roll before he did his flip! Ta Da!! ((heavy applause)) What an athlete! Funny story ... once I was trying to get OUT of Mississauga, and I ended up driving right into the "Arrivals" at the airport!! Since I pick my brother up lots from the airport, it was only then that I finally knew how to get back home ;) Enjoy your free week, and let's hope the sun continues shining like it did this evening rather than the predicted rain. Wendy
I am so wishing I had a day to escape. Maybe next week... Rainy here today too. Tomorrow is supposed to be better. Maybe my biddies will get a Chicken Run. :0)
Your pictures make me want to go out and buy a new finch feeder. The raccoons ripped apart my old one and I just didn't replace it. I love the finch's song. (I see that you are a Coronation Street watcher, too) -Jenn
