Bits & Bobs........

A few pictures taken over the last couple of weeks...

The view from the deck at the cottage, when we visited before Christmas with Miss V...

The Lake is wide open...no ice...this is not such a good thing...as, when there are high winds, the waves are humungous...and with the beach being open, the stones are tossed everywhere...
We need to sweep the deck tomorrow, as we did not get to it with Miss V...we are hoping for a drive tomorrow...seems like forever that we sat on that deck...gazing at the Lake...the sunsets...ahhh...can't wait for Spring!

I tried feeding the birds here at home again....

But this little rascal always ends up feeding his fat little face!

He ate all my pumpkins from Halloween...

Hmmmmmm.....

I wonder how many "REDS" there really are around here.....

Was lovely to see this Robin a few days ago...

Spring??

On Christmas Eve we all gathered at my son's house...

This is his Powder Room....

How quaint is that??

He is a lover of mid-century decorating....

Gave us all and Elf on the Shelf for our stockings!

I put out some shortbread...{mine}...and a few chocolates for nibbling while we opened presents Christmas afternoon!

My love affair with farms, barns,silos......continues!
Snapped these few thru the car window a couple of weeks ago...
Love the rural setting...

I also have a fascination with clouds...
I found this one extraordinary...
The small dark ones, almost look like geese flying...
Just beautiful over the countryside in Southern Ontario...

Captured this handsome fellow, the day with Miss V...
We pulled over, and opened the window, so she could get a closer look!
Hopefully...next summer...we can visit them often...
Perhaps take them an apple or two!

One of the awesome signs my daughter Lissa and her husband Jeff gave us...
This one is in the Family Room for now...Stockings and all put away...tree gone...
Just to help remind us!

Here we are on New Years Eve...

Not the way we had planned it...

But probably enjoyed it more...no...I think we DID enjoy it more...

Cosy in our own Dining Room...

With the last view of the Christmas Tree...

A delicious Greek Salad of my own design...

An absolutely delicious bottle of wine given to us by Ryan's partner Anna...Thanks!

It was from the Okanagan Valley in BC, where my dear friend Devon has moved...miss her every day...HI Devon!

The Moon was almost full that night...I managed to sneak out a get a shot!
Have not seen it is since...because of cloudy conditions...
Perhaps this weekend...as...it will be FULL!!

 As December ended...
We reflected on the year that was...
And...the year that will be...
No regrets...no promises...
Just whatever will be...will be...

Hope you are all well...and had a wonderful Christmas/New Year week...

Very exhausting...I always wished that New Years was in July...what a party that would be!

Having the pleasure of Miss V's company later today...and a sleepover!

Her Mommy is meeting a girlfriend for something to eat...and taking in a movie...

Erika has not been well...so this will be wonderful for her....and us♥️

Rack of Lamb...Wild rice....asparagus for us...and...perhaps some wine!    tee hee hee!

enjoy the rest of your day....and the first weekend of 2015....

Off for a drive tomorrow...wonder what is going on out at the Lake??

                                   Cheers!   :o)

I hope that whatever new years brought and brings that it will be a wonderful year for you and your boyfriend and the rest of the players on your blog! xx

  4. Stormy place and all that stone throwing . . . seems a little rough there sometimes.
Little Peter has been sick for last few days and the whole family have . . . all infecting and reinfecting each other.
Keynsham is a very sick town right now . . .
    Like your header . . . :)

    2. I love the fork thing. I do that with peanut butter dog biscuits, but you know what, I never thought about doing it with shortbread. Super fun.

Night good. We never made it to Barnes, but Hubby had a half-day, and we both got a lot done. Also, I got nanners. Gonna put 'em in waffles ..... muhahahahaha.

  8. No ice on the lake? When does the ice usually form? I don't know much about the "other lake" as we don't get there often.
Your photos are lovely and cozy too. I do love a ride through the country and barns are a favorite subject with me too.

    1. Usually by now there is ice along the shoreline....
Last year was the first time in ages that all 5 Great Lakes froze solid!
      Lake Ontario is still open....right?
Another barn lover....you can be in the club too.....right girls? Hahaha!

    2. Lake Ontario is usually fairly open. It freezes and thaws along the edges and there are often floating ice paddies out there if it's been exceptionally cold. Last year it was crazy cold!

    3. I remember at the cottage last Spring...one weekend there was no ice or snow.....and the following weekend there were icebergs!
      Ahhhhhh...life at the Lake....

  9. Such lovely views. I love the sign in focus and the rest fuzzy...really nice. That horse looks like a race horse. Your shortbread looks so good. Could I get your recipe? I still have some Christmas things up...going to take them down slowly. Your pictures of the barns are like mat and frame good. We had lamb Christmas Eve...it was so good. Tonight is panko crusted tilapia, herb rice and broccoli. I've had a bottle of wine forever...maybe I should open it...haha. You make it sound so good.

  11. I think those Elf on a Shelf are so fun...wish they would have been around when Taylor was small. He would have thought that was the best thing finding him in all kinds of mischief each morning. I would have loved it, too.

Love the green barns in that one photo...we don't see that down here typically!

  14. That cloud shot is fantastic - a painting. And I am drawn to barns and farms too... especially dilapidated ones. We visited my aunt's and uncle's farm every summer when we were kids and I loved it. Often used to wish I had my own farm but such a colossal amount of work. I am experiencing avocado envy at the moment - love them!

  15. Well, I know I sound like a broken record, but your photos are outstanding, to say the least. You should start submitting them to magazines and such. Truly! The clouds, to me I saw dolphins! The farms, oh my...be still my heart!
Hope you are having fun with little Miss V! And I hope Erika is better soon.
Much love and happy wishes for a wonderful 2015!

  17. A really nice post Linda! I always enjoy your thoughts and doings each week in the re-cap. The moon has been gorgeous here as it's been clear, and cold, but the full moon may be hidden by stormy clouds tomorrow. I hope you find all is well at the cottage. We need snow too!

Hope you and the boyfriend have a safe drive to and fro the cottage, supposed to end up with freezing rain...not fun. I'm doing an indoor project, painting a bathroom. :) Have a nice rest of the weekend and hope to see you this week at S.Common. No pressure, ha, ha...

  21. Love the sign, perfect for you. Miserable weather here today and it seems to be across the province. Did you make the trip to the cottage? You would love all the barn photos you could snap out our way. Sounds like everyone had a good time over the holidays.
