A Cardinal Day.....

I had filled the bird feeders...

Yesterday....

As...I felt bad for the poor birds...

Freezing in this horrible cold...

I even toyed with the idea..

Of filling a bowl...

With boiling water....

I have done this before...

Apparently the steam attracts them...

And they come in for a sip of water...

I did not end up doing that....

But felt good that I had filled the feeders♥

Of course....Red had his fill....and even chased some bigger squirrels away...

But...the most astonishing thing today....was....that....

There were 6 Female Cardinals.......Yes....I said 6....and one Male...♥

I imagine they are juveniles...and stuck together for the winter....

I have only EVER seen Cardinals in pairs....this was a first....and very exciting!

Here he is!!!

So regal...

All decked out in his...

Fancy...

Red suit...

He was nibbling...

Rather thoughtfully...

On the cedars...

Small cones....

Tasty!

Captured this shot of the Moon...just as I was going to bed...last night.....♥

Hope you all had a great day....

Kept busy around the house today....laundry....sewing....made soup♥

My boyfriend picked up Miss V around 2pm....and we played for hours!

I took a few pics....she is now sporting a wee barrette in her hair....sooooo cute!

Lucky enough to go out for dinner tonight....went to the Greek....

Going for a drive to the cottage tomorrow....can't wait....suppose the Lake is frozen...

Hope we can get in....or we might have to hope the fence!

Enjoy the rest of your evening....

                                          Cheers!  :o)

  4. I have yet to gather a collection of cardinals. There were nine mourning doves under my feeder today and I've seen as many as seven blue jays at once, maybe eight. The red-bellied woodpecker (which I was thinking was a flicker) comes without a mate. I'd love to have a better spot to watch them and maybe even shoot them with my Cannon. :0)

I have never seen 7 BlueJays.....except at the game of course! Hahaha!
I have the perfect spot....my kitchen...
Put your feeder near a window...and then settle in, and record the show!
Shoot them with your cannon....you are funny, Martha!

  6. Would you believe yesterday I had the opposite? 4 male cardinals and one female! haha.

Giving the birds a drink is a great idea. There's nothing to drink out there and they are probably thirsty! I might have to try that tomorrow. I have a feeling Red will drink yours and cats will drink mine. lol....

    1. Funny that there are no Cardinals over there....wonder why?

    2. No idea why we don't have cardinals, I suppose that it would be the wrong direction for them to migrate, and a long way to fly just for a visit. I will just look at yours instead!! xx

  9. I love cardinals, but rarely see them. When I do, I never have my camera at hand. Your shots are beautiful.

  10. They are such beautiful birds.
Glad it's getting warmer. Quite springlike here today. The pheasants certainly think so, had to break up a fight..

  11. Lucky you to have so many cardinals in your yard. Beautiful pictures of them. What kind of camera/lens do you use to photograph the moon? You always get such clear close shots of it. Enjoy your drive to the cottage.
