A Few Thrifty Buys.....

Did a wee bit of thrift shopping the other day...

Strayed from my usual choices...

Getting even more eclectic...

Seems like other things are calling my name lately...

BOOKS for one thing...

With a growing toddler visiting often...

You can never have too many books...

Miss V loves sitting with Papa in his chair...

And looking at books together...

I know these are for an older child...

But...at 25 cents each...

I just couldn't resist!

This trio of pottery also caught my eye...

The small creamer was 25 cents...

The big soup mug was 25 cents...

The small cradle vintage floral holder also 25 cents....

I had purchased a train floral holder a few months back...and my friend Birdie had suggested it woudl be cute to hold Miss V's barrettes and things....

Well...she is now sporting barrettes...so cute...

But...I thought this cradle would be a better fit for that purpose...and it went home with her last night♥

Thanks for the idea Birdie...♥

The creamer is a Johnson Brothers....probably worth more than 25 cents!

This mug really made me laugh!

Looks very vintage. don't you think?

The drawings depict the 50's or 60's to me....

Who wouldn't want a money tree, eh?

Especially "Pop"!!! hahaha!

While I was looking thru the children's books....

My boyfriend found 2 boxes of key chains...

I guess someone collected key chains...

And someone else thought they were ready for the thrift store!!!

He chose this coca-cola sneaker...

Complete with tread!

And...the official Coca-Cola logo....

I picked the Fred Flintstone one....

YABBA DABBA DOO!!!!

When that show first came out...it was a nightime show....once a week....

I was probably 10 years old!

Our family loved it...

Then....

They started running it everyday at noon...

And when my kids used to come home for lunch...they would watch this...

While munching on their grilled cheese...or peanut butter sandwich...or Kraft dinner!!!   hahaha!

 Those were the days!

 So....

All in all....

A different set of thrifty finds...

But....kinda neat!

What kind of things do you look for when thrifting?

Do you have any collections built up thru thrifting??

Have you ever bought anything, and then found out...it was worth quite a bit more than you paid for it?

I like to actually use the things I purchase...

Especially my bowls...

Glassware...

Pyrex...that sort of thing...

Oh..also small tables is antoher weakness of mine...

Love them♥

The 2 keychains will go to the cottage...

We have a bowl with a few "oddities"...either found or purchased....I should do a post on that sometime!

Perhaps next summer......

ahhhhhh...the "S" word.....dreaming.....

                                                                 *********

Today is soggy...drippy....foggy....and I am not going out the door!

Hope you are all having a great day...

What are you all up to??

                                                    ********

On the menu tonight...

Roasted Spare Ribs....Onion Soup Potatoes....Bok CHoy and Brussells!

Enjoy the rest of your day........

                                                 Cheers!   :o)

  1. I don't think the books are too old for her at all! I read Dr. Suess to my kids when they were just babies. I think it is the rhyming and alliteration that holds their attention. And the pictures are awesome! Same goes with Richard Scarry books.

  2. Books are a great investment ... I've got so many from my teaching days that I'm thinning them out now once the grandkids have outgrown them and donating them to thrift stores. That is one cute little cradle ... where is the photo of Miss V and her hair clips?
It was a rainy day, quite foggy too.

  3. I love your fun thrift finds. The pale blue creamer is so pretty. The books are great for Miss V and what a price. You can't beat that. I still have most of the kids books here so they come in handy when they visit. And their Fisher Price toys and Murray's old vintage (almost antique) toys. :) It's pouring rain and windy tonight and +7. Nasty night so we're in and will watch a DVD movie of some sort that we've already seen 6 times. Nothing on the tube with our 3 stations. lol Have a cozy evening.

  4. Wow Linda, you did amazing, you can't have spent more than few dollars and you got loads! I wish that our charity shops were like that over here! Love your Johnson Bros jug, that is lovely, and as you say it has to be worth more than 25 cents!! Miss V will love the Beatrix Potter books, I wish that someone had bought these for me as a child - I am building my own collection of anniversary books now though! You are never too young or old for BP books!! Happy weekend to you and I hope that the fog and the sog go away very soon! xx

  5. What a great collection of books for Miss V and her grandpa!
I am hatching a plan to steal away when the weather gets warm and find you.
I think that would be fun.

  6. Miss V will love those Dr. Seuss books! I have a big set of them from my childhood and my boys loved as I did...well, maybe I still loved them more, but they are wonderful for kids to read. Now you collect key chains??? Hmmm, perhaps I will bring you one or two!

  8. Oh you did so good. Love all your finds, and even though my grandchildren are now too old for my collection of books, I still love reading them (to myself ~out loud) OK, now you know one of my quirks. I have all the Beatrice Potter's books and my Mother Goose, and just bought one called Mrs. Honeycutt's hat. Delightful, and the watercolors are lovely.

  9. These are such adorable finds! I'm glad you got the books because she can grow into them. My in-laws keep a rotating supply of books, toys and activities at their house for our kids and they love that they can go there and play with something completely different from what they have at home.

  10. That is exactly what we try to do here, Jen....
Everytime she comes....she goes right upstairs to see all her stuff!
    So cute!
