Glad To Be Inside For The Winter......

Yesterday I took some time to sort our my few friends, who came inside for the winter...

Deadheaded...

Spruced up...

Topped up with fresh Miracle Gro soil...

Watered...

Put in their places for now...

While they are still in bloom...

I can enjoy them for a while longer...

So today...

After changing the fleece sheets on our bed...

I noticed the sun catching this giant spike I brought in...

I have had her for about 5 years...

This year, she made it into the master bedroom!

SO...

I decided to grab my camera, and take a few pics to share...

We all need a few flowers in our lives these days...

right now...

Outside...

There is a blizzard brewing...

Seems that hideous storm that has crippled Buffalo NY...

Has shifted to the North of Lake Erie...

And is hitting us here in Southern Ontario...

I am sure the old cottage is buried up to her neck!

So....

Enjoy these pretty Geraniums...

I know I am!

Hope you are all having a great day...

Are you getting snow???

Easy dinner tonight...Rotiserie Chicken from Costco...love it!!

Enjoy your evening...

Stay warm...

Cheers!  :o)

  1. Perfect photos for today. The day started out sunny and we went into town, just as we were coming out of Michaels the snow started and by the time we went in and came of of the last place ( has initials LCBO) it was a white out situation. Thank goodness we only have a 7 minute drive to home. It's a wine and chocolate evening :)

  2. We are still snowless here at home. Some folks in the area have a dusting, some a bit more, and of course then t here are those between here and Buffalo who are literally buried. We'll get ours in time, seeing as we have a snow machine of our own.

Your plants are beautiful. I so wish my own thumbs were just a mite greener, but I have managed to keep several jade plants and a spider plant alive for several years. I guess that's worth something.

My daughter has been on the road sinc 3:45, trying to get home!
I have one HUGE. Jade plant....I take her outside for the Summer...
She is doing something quite remarkable right now....I have been documenting it for a few weeks!

    2. When the wind comes from the north over Lake Ontario, then we'll be digging out too, but so far the leaves are still blowing about the back yard.
My huge jade plant fell over when she outgrew her pot several years ago (even though she wasn't all THAT huge). Now she is several smaller jades instead.
I hope your daughter made it home safe.

  3. Your geraniums and giant spike look so healthy! I brought in two geraniums and hope they survive the winter in the office window. I tried to comment on your post yesterday about the lettuce and my computer froze. Freaked me out. Anyway I think the lettuce in the dish is pretty cool. Let us know how long it lasts. We're all curious. :)

  4. Nice pops of colour for your home. We brought in the geraniums too as they are still in full bloom and gorgeous. I could have used some of that lettuce today as I ran out and was too lazy to go to the store. Your dinner sounds delish and easy. I made my veggie spaghetti and garlic bread tonight and the retired guy had a side order of roast chicken. It hit the spot on this cold, wintry night.

  7. Love the pictures, AND the flowers. I do OK with outdoor gardening (in the summer), but once things make their way inside for the winter, it's just all I can do to keep them alive. Never thriving like yours seem to be doing. Very nice indeed!

  9. Our snow still isn't sticking yet and we live relatively close to each other! Strange. Was at a neighbour's for a glass of wine earlier tonight and her Christmas cactus was going crazy. She has 64 blooms on it. Massive. And she also has the most gorgeous deep pink orchid that she has had for years and it must have 10-15 blooms on it. Really perks things up! Yours look lovely and I bet they are thanking you profusely for rescuing them from the white deluge. Hope we get a deluge soon!

    1. I know! My daughters live in Burlington, and they got more than me!
I love Christmas Cactus...I had 3 huge ones for years...but sadly they all died last winter :o(
I have one small one that survived...and it has one flower! They take a few years to mature...kind of like humans! hahaha!

  11. Having seen the pictures of all the snow in America on the news this morning I think that you got your plants indoors just in time!! I hope that you are not too buried in the white stuff and that you are safe and warm. Seems as though you got the cottage put to bed just in time!! xx

    1. $7.99 each, and they are GOOD! I believe they are $5 in Florida!
They do us a minimum of 2 meals...making Chicken Pot Pie tonight!!
Think we have SAMS...that is the Walmart guy, right? Don't know the other...

    2. Yeah, yeah, part of the Wally World thing. 6 bucks here but they are not good here. Very salty and the meat is not clean tasting. So we don't buy them. Chicken pot pies were on my list this week but not able to make pastry until leg healed more.

  15. Just catching up to your blog from yesterday. I was so glad to have cancelled my tutoring session yesterday as I would have been stuck in the awful snowy traffic late yesterday afternoon. Glad your family made it home safely. Just finished doing some errands in the local mall and I was glad to look at your lovely plant photos....very soothing. :) The boyfriend has a fundraiser to attend this evening, so I'll be having last night's leftovers. Pasta and baked eggplant. Keep warm and enjoy your visit with Miss V...
