Last weekend at the cottage...
I decided to rebuild my tiny Inukshuk Village...
It had been ravaged during a hideous storm a few weeks back...
It is kind of relaxing...
Stacking the stones...
Looking for just the right ones...
Stand back...
Admire the Village!
So....November came in like a lion for sure!!
Steady rain all Halloween night...no kids at my door!!
A few flurries during the day today...
Dark...sombre...cold...blustery...
Hope you are all having a great day...
No cottage this weekend :o(
Oh well...
I am sure the grilled lamb chops,
That I have marinating in grainy spicy mustard...
Along with some Worchesthire sauce...
Accompanied with some wild rice and greek salad...YUM!
Enjoy the rest of your day...
Cheers! :o)
linda
I bet strangers that walk by enjoy your Inukshuk village.
ReplyDeleteWe didn't have any kids either but that is because I was beyond exhausted and was headed to be early. The light were out and the curtains drawn.
If they see it...they must be in the water! Brrrrrr!
DeleteCute ! Oh the lamb sounds YUMMY ! it is cold and the winds have that bite to them . Thanks for sharing , have a good day !
ReplyDeleteSame weather here Elaine....guess it's cold at the cottage!
DeleteSomehow I think your Inukshuk Village is at the mercy of the elements.
ReplyDeletePerhaps some cement between the pebbles might preserve your creations well into the future to baffle future archaeologists . . .lol
Are you seeing little Mickey Mouse this weekend.
I saw a baby Happy Pumpkin on Friday and did a post . . . . lol
You seem very sad you did not go to the cottage . . .
Hi Eddie....
DeleteYes...it will probably be gone when I go back. :o(
Maybe the racoons are smashing it up!
Not sure if we will de Mickey or not....they usually stop by on Sundays...
Peter looks great♥️
Yes...I am sad....we need to get the porch shutters up.....SOON!
Maybe next week will be mild and you can get to the cottage. We've had lion-ish weather, too! brrr.
ReplyDeleteWe worry about it.....like an old friend♥️
DeleteLooks very medieval!!! It was a chilly and rainy day here today too! Finally, it is Fall! Greg went up to Big Bear to bring the boat home, but it was snowing so he couldn't.
ReplyDeleteI went to the fabric store today with Jae, and then sewed all afternoon. Lovely day.
Hugs
Kris
I used to sew all the time...not so much anymore.....been crocheting though!
DeleteThat's my kind of cottage project, nice!
ReplyDeleteThanks Furry....
DeleteIt is fun too!
Hi Linda - my November came in the same way. Spent lots of time retrieving patio furniture & plastic plant pots! You village is cute. In some places overseas they build huge rock piles and them Cairns. The person crossing the land would look for a particular rock Cairn to find their way to a secret place of safety. You would go from cairn to cairn until you arrived at the location.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for visiting my blog, An Artful Blogger!!!
Windy, eh?
DeleteInteresting Dixie...never knew that!
Stopped back by - it's a habit to check everyone out everyday! Love the silver shoes and leaves - you're so ready now!!!
DeleteThanks Dixie....
DeleteLinda, you are quite the rock whisperer. There was an empty lot near our old home, and someone...never saw them did many rocks stacks. They are so interesting.
ReplyDeleteWe had rain on Halloween, and no trick or treater. I'm snacking on the Kit Kats.
Ha!
DeleteMartha sent me a pin, showing rocks!
I started a new board....some of them are awesome!
Enjoy your kit kats!
I love your village, Linda. I wish you could build some Inukshuks for my garden!
ReplyDeleteThanks Patricia.....
DeleteGather some at the beach....
Add a village!
i love when i see the stones stacked like that - its called something and it does something too, right? they look great - but it actually looks calming - dinner sounds yummy enjoy the day!
ReplyDeleteMe too Marisa...something magical about it!
DeleteSorry that you weren't able to get to the cottage this weekend. Your lamb chops must have been very yummy, I always love the way you describe food, ha, ha. Our dinner was easy as we were invited to friends. I've been friends with this lady since high school in Montreal and I won't give details as to how long ago that was! :) We had delicious veal stew, rice, salad. Dessert was a home made very moist chocolate cake. Have a good week and take care...
ReplyDeleteHi Hester....
DeleteLucky you.....no cooking! And chocolate cake!
your inukshuks are beautiful.
ReplyDeletei love river stones. well... in your case ... lake stones.
i looked up inukshuk and it's fascinating.
it said ... they were very comforting for those people walking in a barren landscape... and coming upon them.
it let them know that somehow they were not alone. and often it gave directions toward water or a passage.
lovely.
xo♥
Hi Tammy...
DeleteSo glad you looked that up....
Something new for us all to know...excellent!
I did not know all of this!
I see tiny people in the village...looking for sanctuary...from the wind and rain.
ReplyDeleteJane x
Tee hee hee!
DeleteJust been catching up! - I hope that your plants all survive and do well over the winter, I need to sort my last few things out in the garden too! Miss V looked great in her Halloween outfit didn't she. I hope that the village survives a long time, they look like a lovely little collection of stone buildings! I wonder what the weather will bring them this winter though. xx
ReplyDeleteI brought a few more in today...must be milder in the UK, eh?
DeleteYes she did..had a ball in the outfit!
I will keep my eye on them...very relaxing doing that!
I love building with stones ... the inner kid in me comes out ... hope our little village survives the upcoming weather. It's a lovely sunny day, but chilly, chilly, chilly ... time for fingerless mitts and scarves wrapped around and around my neck while heading to the swimming pool this morning. I've officially got out my winter clothes, the knitting is going, the book is half finished, I made a casserole in the slow cooker and I'm looking at the listings for crafts sales over the next few weeks.
ReplyDeleteI should check out the Michael's site for sales...I never think to do that!
DeleteI have never heard of Inukshuks. They are cute. I would need to bring at least one inside so that it would last.
ReplyDeleteExcellent idea Kathy!
DeleteI was just going to say that too... why not have one inside? I love the little village and the rocks are beautiful - you have great variation. I always collect a few stones or shells from places I visit as souvenirs. I like to hold them and rub them... sort of like worry beads... but worry stones!
ReplyDeleteWorry stones.....great idea Suza!
DeleteI might just do an indoor one next Summer.....
I saw lamb at the market over the weekend and nearly bought it, but I had just bought ribs and chicken so I didn't want to have too much. Never made lamb before, so next go, I want to give it a try.
ReplyDeleteLove your stones, it looks kind of relaxing.
Are you kind of a vegetarian Ivy?
DeleteOr....just don't like to set too much meat....interesting
Love playing with the rocks.....
